A word of thanks, a time of change

The Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT) published its first issue in July 2007, just more than 2 years after the founding of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). As the first and only journal dedicated to the field of cardiovascular computed tomography (CCT), the scientific and educational content published since its first manuscript, which was, fittingly, a state-of-the-art review of coronary CTA by the then SCCT President Stephan Achenbach, MD,

has been central to the mission and success of the SCCT and the practice of cardiovascular imaging. As I was preparing this, my final Editor's Page, I went back and read the first SCCT President's Page by Dr. Stephan Achenbach.

Dr. Achenbach closed his inaugural submission stating “Quality must always be our goal. We owe it to this great new method and we owe it to society. Most of all, we owe it to our patients.” His words, reminding us that it is quality - in image acquisition, interpretation, research, and educational content – that should always be the focus of the SCCT and JCCT, continue to resonate. As the 4th Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the JCCT, having served in this role first as acting EIC in 2019 and as EIC from January 2020 to July 2022, I hope that we have delivered on the promise of publishing a journal of the highest quality.
