The Agatston coronary calcium score (CAC) is the most widely applied scoring system
for measuring coronary artery calcification and is considered as the cornerstone for
cardiovascular risk assessment in asymptomatic patients.

CAC also has incremental value in the prediction of major adverse cardiovascular
events (MACE) in symptomatic patients with confirmed and suspected coronary artery
disease presenting with chest pain
