Cited in Scopus: 0Subclinical leaflet thrombosis (LT) may occur following surgical and transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Computed tomography (CT) has become an established imaging modality to diagnose subclinical LT following bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement. Even so, there is a limited (but growing) experience in utilizing CT imaging for this indication. This review emphasizes a systematic approach to acquiring and analysing CT imaging for subclinical LT, highlighting evidence surrounding clinical sequelae of subclinical LT and anti-thrombotic implications following diagnosis. - Research paper

Cited in Scopus: 0Computed tomography (CT) imaging is the standard of care before transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The aortic annulus undergoes conformational changes during the heart cycle. Therefore, the image acquisition time point can impact prosthesis sizing and fit. Clinical outcome data are lacking. The aim of this study was to compare systolic and diastolic cardiac CT data acquisition with regard to procedural and clinical outcomes in patients undergoing TAVR for severe aortic stenosis (AS). - Research paper

Clinical outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve implantation in patients with porcelain aorta

Cited in Scopus: 1Current guidelines favor transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) over surgical aortic valve replacement in patients with porcelain aorta (PAo). The clinical relevance of PAo in patients undergoing TAVI is however incompletely understood. The purpose of this study is to evaluate clinical outcome of patients with PAo undergoing TAVI. - Research paperOpen Access

Cited in Scopus: 14Mitral annular calcification (MAC) has been associated with mitral valve (MV) disease and cardiovascular events in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). We aimed to investigate the incidence and impact of mitral calcium volume (MCV) quantified by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) on MV function and clinical outcomes after TAVI. - Research paper
Annular versus supra-annular sizing for transcatheter aortic valve replacement in bicuspid aortic valve disease

Cited in Scopus: 21CT measurement of supra-annular area (SA) has been proposed as an alternative to annular area (AA) for sizing of trancatheter valves in biscuspid aortic valves (BAV). This study examines the reproducibility of SA and AA measurements and their potential impact on downstream transcatheter heart valve sizing and clinical outcomes. - Research paper

Cited in Scopus: 24No indication are available for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) sizing in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). Aim of the study is to develop and validate a Multi-Slice Computed Tomography (MSCT)-based algorithm for transcatheter heart valve (THV) sizing in patients with stenotic BAV under evaluation for TAVI. - Research Article

Cited in Scopus: 24Global longitudinal strain (GLS) detects subclinical myocardial changes in patients with aortic stenosis (AS). Although GLS is typically measured by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), assessment by multiphasic gated computed tomography angiography (CTA) has become recently available. We sought to evaluate the feasibility of CTA-derived GLS assessment and compare its agreement with TTE using the same post-processing software in severe AS patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) evaluation. - Pictorial Essay

Cited in Scopus: 21For patients with severe aortic stenosis, open-heart surgical valve replacement remains the current clinical standard with documented, excellent long-term outcome. Over the past few years, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has developed into a treatment alternative for high-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis. Because transcatheter valvular procedures are characterized by lack of exposure of the operative field, image guidance is critical. This Pictorial Essay describes the role of 3-dimensional imaging with multidetector row computed tomography for detailed reconstructions of the aortic valve, aortic root, and iliac arteries in the context of TAVI.
